ALAN MARTINKE

Person with a beard standing on rocky shore near the ocean, wearing a black shirt, tattoo on left arm, cloudy sky in background.

Alan is the sonic architect behind Wild Honey’s signature soultronic sound. A classically trained pianist raised between Jupiter and Florida’s Treasure Coast, Alan blends the technical precision of his early training with the expressive freedom of jazz, funk, and psychedelic soul. By age four, he was playing Christmas carols by ear—and by eight, he was onstage with a nationally touring jazz trio.
That performance didn’t just spark a
dream—it confirmed a calling.

As Wild Honey’s resident mad scientist, Alan is equal parts player, producer, and performer. He crafts the duo’s full-band sound in real time—layering programmed drums and synth textures with live bass lines, B3 organ, and keys—all while triggering samples from his Maschine Plus. His setup delivers the energy of a full ensemble, powered by just two musicians on stage. His style? “Lush like a Mack truck, smooth like a razor blade”—thick chords, gritty organ tones, and haunting synth leads.

Alan’s influences range from Rachmaninoff and Stevie Wonder to Phish and Fats Waller. While his tastes are broad, much of his current sound comes from his own experimentation and signature production techniques. In addition to keys, he plays guitar, bass, and saxophone—but the Hammond B3 holds his heart.

On stage, Alan brings humor, heart, and high energy. His dream venue? A packed black-box theater filled
with fans feeling every note.

I want people to feel power when they hear us, he says.
To connect with the lyrics, ride the velvet synths, and walk away wondering how two people made that much sound.
